01Overview

One Pump, Two Jobs, Oil-Free

The YBVP is an oil-free dry pump that delivers both vacuum and pressure from a single unit — −600 mbar on the suction side and +600 mbar on the discharge side. On any machine that holds a part with vacuum and then blows, floats or feeds it with air, one YBVP does the work of a separate vacuum pump and a separate blower.

Six models span 25 to 140 m³/hr and 1.1 to 7.5 kW, all at 1440 rpm and all oil-free. The same tight-clearance dry design that keeps the vacuum clean keeps the discharge air clean too — so neither air service can contaminate your product.

The one-pump-two-jobs economics

Two machines cost twice: two motors, two starters, two footprints, two maintenance routines, two spares holdings. A YBVP collapses that to one. For a duty that truly uses both vacuum and pressure — and many packaging, printing and handling lines do — the combined pump is the lower-cost system to buy, install, power and maintain. That is the whole point of this family.

A worked example

Take a small sheet-fed line that needs vacuum for pickup and pressure for float. Bought as two machines it is two motors, two starters, two inlet filters and two service schedules on two footprints. Bought as one YBVP it is a single motor, one electrical drop, one filter and one maintenance routine — typically a lower installed cost, a smaller machine base, and half the spares to stock. Over a decade of running, the saved electrical connections, the reduced maintenance labour and the single spares holding add up to real money.

Sizing is straightforward: total the vacuum demand at −600 mbar and the pressure demand at +600 mbar, size on whichever is larger, and add margin for leakage and wear. Because both services draw on one clean airflow they are inherently matched — get the larger side right and the other follows.

02Working Principle

How the Dry Combined Pump Works

Like our other dry pumps, the YBVP runs on precision timing gears that keep its rotors meshed but never touching. Air is drawn in, carried on tight mechanical clearances, compressed and expelled — without any sealing oil in the chamber. The inlet provides the vacuum service; the outlet provides the pressure service; the gearbox oil that lubricates bearings and gears is sealed away from the gas path.

Because both the vacuum and the pressure come from one clean airflow, the two services are naturally matched in capacity — the air you pull in is the air you push out. Size the pump on whichever side carries the larger demand, and the other side follows.

03Split Function

Vacuum Side, Pressure Side

Think of the YBVP as a single air mover with two useful ends. The vacuum side draws air from your process — lifting, holding, registering, clamping, conveying. The pressure side takes that same air and puts it to work — sheet float, air-knife blow-off, part ejection, pneumatic feed.

When both sides earn their keep

  • Sheet-fed printing & converting — vacuum holds and registers, pressure floats and delivers.
  • Packaging & cartoning — vacuum picks and places, pressure ejects and blows clear.
  • Bottling & filling — vacuum for handling and deaeration, pressure for transfer and air-rinse.
  • Vacuum forming with blow-release — form on vacuum, release on pressure.

If your process only ever uses one side, you are paying for a capability you do not need — step to the single-function YBDVP. If it uses both, the YBVP is built for exactly that.

There is a reliability dividend too. One machine means one thing to monitor, one control interface and one point of failure to guard rather than two — and because the vacuum and pressure are two ends of the same rotor set, the two services can never drift out of step with each other. For a line operator, that is one pump to learn, one spare to hold and one routine to run, doing the work that used to take two separate machines and two separate maintenance regimes.

Materials & Build

  • Rotors & housing: precision-machined for the tight clearances that seal without oil, on both suction and discharge.
  • Timing gears: hardened, ground and synchronised so rotors never contact.
  • Sealed gearbox & bearings: the only lubricated zone, isolated from both air services.
  • Cooling: air-cooled with a clear cooling path — a combined pump does two jobs and must shed the heat of both.
  • Motor: TEFC induction, 1.1–7.5 kW, wound for your supply and frequency.
  • Porting: clearly identified vacuum and pressure connections for straightforward plumbing.

Installation

  • Mount on a rigid base with clearance for cooling airflow; ambient below 40 °C.
  • Fit a YEBL-FA filter on the vacuum inlet; keep the discharge line clear and correctly sized.
  • Plumb the vacuum and pressure manifolds separately and label them — cross-connection defeats the purpose.
  • Add a condensate knock-out on the suction side where the process can carry over liquid.
  • Confirm motor rotation direction before loading the machine.

Maintenance schedule

  • Weekly: check and clean the inlet filter; confirm cooling path is clear.
  • Periodically: check sealed gearbox oil level; top up per the manual.
  • Annually: inspect bearings, timing gears and rotor clearances; verify both vacuum and pressure against rating.

Diagnosing Two Services at Once

With a combined pump, the first question is always which side — isolate the fault to vacuum or pressure before you touch the pump.

  • Weak on the vacuum side only — leak or blockage on the suction manifold, or a clogged inlet filter. Fix the vacuum circuit; the pump is fine if the pressure side is normal.
  • Weak on the pressure side only — a restriction, kink or leak in the discharge line. Trace and clear it.
  • Both sides weak — this points at the pump: a choked inlet filter, worn clearances, or ingested debris. Clean the filter first, then inspect.
  • The two services interfere — the vacuum and pressure manifolds have been cross-connected. Separate and label them.
  • Running hot — a combined pump does two jobs and sheds more heat. Keep the cooling path clear and do not exceed the rated duty on either side.

How does one pump deliver both vacuum and pressure?
The YBVP uses its inlet to create vacuum (−600 mbar) and its outlet to deliver pressure (+600 mbar) — the same airflow, tapped at both ends. On a machine that needs to hold a part with suction and then blow it off or feed it with air, one YBVP replaces a separate vacuum pump and a separate blower.
What is the economic case for a combined vacuum-and-pressure pump?
One motor instead of two: lower capital cost, one electrical connection, one control, one footprint and one machine to maintain. You cut purchase price, installation and running cost, and you free up floor space. For any duty that genuinely uses both air services, the combined YBVP is the cheaper system over its life.
Is the YBVP oil-free?
Yes — it is a dry, oil-free pump. No oil in the pumping chamber means clean vacuum and clean discharge air, so it suits packaging, printing, food and handling duties where oil carry-over is unwanted on either the suction or the blow side.
Can I use only the vacuum or only the pressure side?
Yes. Many installations use both simultaneously, but you can plumb only the service you need. If you only ever need vacuum, the single-function YBDVP is more economical; choose the YBVP when the pressure side earns its keep.
How do I size a YBVP?
Add up the airflow your vacuum consumers need at −600 mbar and, separately, the air your pressure consumers need at +600 mbar; size on the larger demand with margin. Models run from YBVP 25 (25 m³/hr, 1.1 kW) to YBVP 140 (140 m³/hr, 7.5 kW), all at 1440 rpm. Send both duty points and we will confirm the model.
What maintenance is involved?
Being oil-free, maintenance is light: keep the inlet filter clean, keep the cooling path clear, and service bearings and timing gears per the manual. No process-oil changes and no oil-mist filters. Fit a YEBL-FA filter on the suction side.
