02METHODOLOGY & ASSUMPTIONS
A blower's purchase price is a footnote next to its lifetime energy bill. A 7.5 kW unit running two shifts a day, 330 days a year, draws close to 40,000 kWh annually — at a typical industrial tariff that is a five-figure recurring cost that repeats every year for the life of the machine. This calculator makes that number visible, then estimates how much of it a correctly specified, high-efficiency replacement could reclaim.
How the annual cost is calculated
The core figure is deliberately simple and transparent: rated power in kilowatts, multiplied by running hours per day, multiplied by operating days per year, gives annual energy in kilowatt-hours. Multiply by your electricity tariff and you have the annual energy cost. If you enter power in horsepower, it is converted at 1 HP = 0.7457 kW before the calculation. The tariff defaults are indicative — ₹8/kWh for India, $0.12 for the US, €0.25 for the EU, along with AED and SAR presets — and every one is editable, because the only tariff that matters is the one on your bill.
What the efficiency and saving sliders mean
The current efficiency assumption slider (60–85%) is exactly that — an assumption about how much of the power your existing unit draws is doing useful work rather than being lost to oversizing, throttling and heat. It frames the opportunity; it is not a measured value. The indicative saving band slider (8–15%, default 10%) is the fraction of your current energy cost that a right-sized high-efficiency unit might reclaim. This is a typical industry range for blower replacements, not a Yash performance guarantee. We label it honestly on purpose: the saving your specific duty point will actually deliver depends on the gap between your current operating point and the best-fit curve, and that can only be established by measurement.
Payback
If you enter an indicative unit price, the tool divides it by the estimated annual saving to give a simple payback in years. It ignores maintenance, downtime and financing deliberately — it is a first-order sanity check, not a business case.
