A vacuum-forming machine is the compact cousin of thermoforming: heat a sheet, drop it over a mould in the forming box, and pull the trapped air out so atmospheric pressure presses the plastic onto the tool. The whole job is a single, quick evacuation of a fixed box volume to a deep vacuum. Because the box is small and sealed, you do not need huge flow — you need enough displacement to pull it down before the sheet cools, and a deep ultimate vacuum so corners and undercuts form cleanly. A dry oil-free pump handles this without oil changes and keeps the shop clean; an oil-sealed pump earns its place when a very deep, glass-sharp ultimate is the priority.

- A deep vacuum around −850 mbar or better forms most sheet cleanly. The flow is modest because the forming box is a small sealed volume — you are sizing on how fast you pull that box down, not on continuous throughput. A YBDVP 60 or 100 suits most desktop-to-workshop machines.
- Can I use a dry pump instead of an oil-sealed one for vacuum forming?
