DTYAeration against a swinging load
An effluent treatment plant treats industrial wastewater whose strength and flow swing with the factory, so its aeration has to hold dissolved oxygen while the load moves around under it. The blower makes the pressure the diffuser depth demands and delivers airflow that can be trimmed as the load rises and falls, on continuous or SBR-cyclic duty. Equalisation-tank mixing and shallow aeration suit a single-stage ring blower; deeper activated-sludge basins and longer fine-bubble grids want the higher head of a two-stage blower. A relief valve is important here — as diffusers foul and phases change, it caps back-pressure and protects the machine.
