10 HP and larger ring blowers cover roughly 530 to 1050 m³/hr of oil-free air, with single-stage pressure up to about 380 mbar at 10 HP and up to 460 mbar on the largest 24.5 HP frame. These are three-phase machines weighing 68 to 126 kg, built for full-scale sewage plants, large ETPs, and long conveying runs where a 5 HP unit runs out of flow or head. At this size the buying decisions shift from "which model" to how you power, mount, control, and protect the machine.
Start from the number that matters: flow at your pressure
Two facts anchor a big-duty selection. First, at fixed pressure a bigger frame simply moves more air. Second, at fixed horsepower more flow means less pressure — the same trade you see all the way down the range, just at higher absolute numbers. A YEBL-1-530P gives 530 m³/hr at 380 mbar on a 10 HP motor; its 10 HP sibling the YEBL-1-700P gives 700 m³/hr but only 260 mbar. Both draw 7.46 kW. The frame geometry sets the split.
Because these are still regenerative side-channel blowers, the air stays 100% oil-free: one impeller, mounted directly on the motor shaft, is the only moving part in the air path. That is the defining advantage over oil-lubricated positive-displacement machines at this duty — no oil carryover into an aeration basin or a product-conveying line.
The 10 HP-plus line-up

The three 1050-series units share the same 1050 m³/hr flow but climb in pressure as horsepower rises: the base 11 HP holds 210 mbar, while the 24.5 HP YEBL-1-1050HP reaches 460 mbar — the highest single-stage pressure in the standard range. If you need that flow at deep-tank head, the extra motor is the price. Sizing against a full-scale plant
The pressure demand still comes from water head: about 98 mbar per metre of submergence, plus 30–50 mbar diffuser loss, plus pipe and header loss. A 3.5 m aeration basin needs roughly 343 mbar of head before losses — inside the YEBL-1-530P's 380 mbar envelope, but with thin margin once losses stack up. For a plant that deep at 1050 m³/hr, the 16.5 or 24.5 HP frame gives the pressure headroom to keep diffusers well fed as they foul over time. Installation and control checklist
At 68–126 kg, these units need real mounting discipline. Run this before energising:

The recurring failure mode at this size is heat from restriction. A ring blower is cooled by the air it pumps, so a clogged filter, a throttled outlet, or a closed downstream valve turns airflow into heat fast. Two safeguards matter most: a correctly sized relief valve, and speed control instead of throttling. Duty, standby and redundancy
Full-scale sewage plants rarely run a single blower. The standard pattern is duty-plus-standby so aeration never stops during service. Two YEBL-1-530P units on a shared header, one running and one on standby with auto-changeover, is a common STP arrangement — sized so either alone covers the tank. Single-stage, double-stage, or high-pressure?
At 10 HP and above you have three architectures to choose between, and they are genuinely different machines:
- Single-stage (YEBL-1): one impeller, up to ~460 mbar on the 24.5 HP frame, highest flow per rupee. The default for aeration and moderate-head conveying.
- Double-stage (YEBL-DS): two impellers in series in one casing, roughly double the pressure/vacuum at a given flow. The 15 HP YEBL-DS-520 reaches -430/660 mbar at 520 m³/hr — for deep tanks and higher back-pressure lines where a single stage runs short.
- High-pressure series (YEBL-HP): true multi-stage for genuine high pressure, up to 1040 mbar. A different class for processes that need pressure a regenerative single stage cannot approach.
Match the architecture to the pressure demand first, then pick the frame for flow. Buying a big single-stage unit and hoping it reaches a deep-tank head is the classic oversizing error — the pressure ceiling is fixed by the number of stages, not by adding horsepower alone.
Commissioning a large unit
Before first run, bar the impeller over by hand (via the motor fan) to confirm it spins free, check the rotation direction against the housing arrow the instant power is applied — reverse rotation moves far less air and can overheat — and verify the inlet filter is clean and the relief valve is set. On start-up, watch the running current against the motor nameplate; a reading well above full-load current points to reverse rotation, a restriction, or low supply voltage. Let the unit reach thermal steady state and confirm the casing temperature stabilises rather than climbing — a steadily rising temperature signals restriction somewhere in the air path.
The one rule to size by
At 10 HP and above, buy the flow you need, then confirm the pressure ceiling clears your full head-plus-loss sum with at least 10–15% margin (estimate) for diffuser fouling. If flow demand is high and head is deep at the same time, step up in horsepower on the same flow frame rather than accepting a thin pressure margin.
