Welding and grinding on pipe mills throw fume and dust that centrifugal extraction has to clear continuously, and cooling air manages heat on the mill and coating lines. These are high-static-pressure duties running through every shift, judged on holding airflow against ductwork resistance.
Coating operations — internal and external pipe coatings — add process air and, in some lines, vacuum for application and drying. Reading a pipe plant as centrifugal dust-and-cooling air plus coating-line air is the recommended structure for a heavy-tube works.

Static pressure over a big mill
Weld and grind fume extraction across a large pipe mill runs through long, resistive ductwork, and airflow holds only if the blower carries the static pressure to push through it. A low-pressure fan stalls as the system resists; a high-pressure centrifugal keeps fume moving away from operators through the shift. Sizing from the total system resistance rather than the hood figure alone is what keeps a big mill's extraction effective, and it is the basis of the HP-centrifugal recommendation.
Cooling and coating air
Mill cooling and internal and external pipe coating need steady process air, a centrifugal duty separate from the fume extraction. Coating in particular wants consistent air over the application and curing sections so the finish is even. A balanced CX machine supplies that steady air; keeping it separate from the high-static extraction system means each duty gets the right machine and a fault on one does not disturb the other.
Rugged by necessity
Pipe and tube mills run hot, abrasive and continuous, so the air machinery is chosen as much for ruggedness and rebuildability as for its duty point. Fume-extraction and cooling blowers face dust and heat that wear rotors over time, so in-house impeller casting — the ability to re-supply and rebuild a rotor domestically — is what keeps a worn machine out of a long import queue. Sizing extraction from the real ductwork resistance, and cooling from the actual process load, gives margin against fouling. On a heavy-tube line, machinery that is easy to rebuild locally is machinery that stays in service.
