Horsepower rates the motor, not the air. Two blowers can both carry a 2.0 HP motor and still behave very differently: one pushes more air at low pressure, another pushes less air but reaches deeper into vacuum. Small STP and diffused aeration
For a small sewage treatment plant the governing number is water head. Water column head is about 98 mbar per metre of submergence, so a diffuser sitting 1.5 m deep needs roughly 147 mbar just to overcome the water, plus 30–50 mbar of diffuser loss and pipe/fitting loss on top. Biofloc systems keep solids in suspension and demand steady, oil-free air across many diffusers. Flow usually matters more than peak pressure because tanks are moderate depth. Printing, packaging and light vacuum
On the inlet side, the same machine becomes a vacuum source for sheet hold-down, box forming, and pick-and-place. Here the YEBL-1-210 leads with -190 mbar. Remember that a ring blower is a low-to-moderate vacuum device: single-stage tops out near -300 mbar in the range, and the 2 HP frame reaches -190 mbar. Reading a 2 HP performance curve
Datasheet ceilings tell you the maximum, but real duty sits somewhere on the curve between free flow and dead-head. A ring blower delivers its full rated flow only at low back-pressure; as pressure rises toward the ceiling, flow falls away. So when the catalog says the YEBL-1-210 gives 210 m³/hr and 200 mbar, read that as two ends of a line — you get 210 m³/hr near zero back-pressure, and progressively less as you climb toward 200 mbar. A useful habit is to size for your working point (say 150 mbar) and check the flow the curve actually gives there, not the headline free-air figure. This single mismatch is the most common reason a "correctly rated" blower seems to underperform on site: it was sized on the free-air number but is being asked to work near its pressure ceiling.
Noise and placement
All three 2 HP models sit at 70 dB in the catalog. That is louder than the sub-1 HP units (the YEBL-1-25 is 53 dB) because larger impellers and higher tip speeds raise the blade-pass tone. Seventy dB is manageable indoors with basic care: mount the blower on anti-vibration feet, fit an inlet filter-silencer, and keep it off resonant sheet-metal platforms that amplify structure-borne noise. Do not expect a specific dB reduction from any one measure — size against the catalog 70 dB and treat silencing as insurance, not a guaranteed cut.
Maintenance reality
The only routine wear items on a 2 HP ring blower are the bearings and the inlet filter. Keep the filter clean so the impeller clearance stays free of grit, watch that the inlet and outlet are never restricted, and the machine has very little else to go wrong — there is no oil in the air path to change and no rubbing seal to replace. Clearance preservation is the whole game: a clean, unrestricted, well-filtered blower runs a long service life (any specific hours figure would be an estimate).
Single-phase or three-phase?
The 2 HP class is commonly available in both. Single-phase suits sites without a three-phase connection — small farms, standalone printing rigs. Three-phase runs cooler and is the better base for variable-frequency drive control if you plan to trim flow later. Either way, size the starter and cable for the motor's full-load current, and give the blower a clean, unrestricted inlet: ring blowers cool by the air they pump, so a choked filter or a throttled outlet turns straight into heat.
