Vacuum is the dimension

On pipe, profile and sheet extrusion the calibration vacuum draws the extrudate against the sizing tooling, and the vacuum level sets wall thickness, roundness and flatness. It is continuous and campaign-long, so the pump is chosen for steady hold rather than peak — a drop shows immediately as an out-of-spec section. A YELV vacuum pump holds that level through the run, which is why calibration vacuum is the real dimensional control on a building-products line.

Cooling is the output

Once dimensions are set, cooling air over the tanks and downstream sections decides how fast the line can run. Steady centrifugal air lets the section cool uniformly at speed, so throughput rises without losing the dimensions the vacuum established. A balanced CX machine supplies that cooling constantly; paired with the calibration vacuum, it gives the line both its dimensional control and its output, each on the right family.

Scrap is measured in tonnes

On a building-products extrusion line, a drift in calibration vacuum or cooling air does not fail cleanly — it produces out-of-spec pipe or sheet by the tonne before anyone reacts.
