The signature duty in a rice plant is vacuum packing — brick packs and pouches are evacuated (and often gas-flushed) so the grain travels and stores without spoilage. Because that vacuum is drawn right at the product, oil-free machines are the norm. High-throughput lines run banks of packing heads, which sets the vacuum capacity you have to plan for.

Around the pack line, the plant runs pneumatic conveying to move cleaned grain between silos, graders and packing, and light dust-handling air on the cleaning side. Those are low-pressure blower duties. The recommendation is oil-free dry vacuum for the packing heads and turbine air for conveying and dust.

Sizing vacuum to the head count

On a branded rice line the vacuum requirement scales with the number of packing heads drawing at once, not with a single head in isolation. A multi-head brick-pack line can pull several times the vacuum of one machine at peak, so the pump — or the bank of pumps — has to be sized to that simultaneous draw with margin for gas-flush cycles. Undersize it and packs seal poorly under load; the recommendation is to specify the peak header condition and match the oil-free YBDVP to it, with a spare ready because packing uptime is the whole plant's uptime.

Conveying without breaking grain

Moving cleaned basmati and pulses between silos, graders and packing is a dilute-phase conveying duty where gentleness matters as much as flow — too much velocity cracks grain and creates fines. A correctly sized single-stage turbine delivers the air volume to carry product at a controlled velocity rather than blasting it through the line. Matching the blower to the conveying rate and line length, rather than over-pressuring, protects both product quality and the conveying system, and the same class doubles for light cleaning-line dust air.

Packing uptime is plant uptime

On a branded grain line the packing floor is the plant's throat, so its vacuum uptime is effectively the plant's uptime — which makes the spares question the buying question. A machine sized to peak header draw with margin, a spare on the shelf and a domestic maker able to rebuild in days are what keep the packs sealing.
